In response to customer praise for the innovative
flate ceramic burner system, fitted as standard to
our new generation of models (e.g. LNER A4, BR41),
we have upgraded all our existing stock of the 8F to
this new, higher, standard. Additionally we have
taken the opportunity to make further improvements
including the use of British made pressure gauges.
We are committed to a continuing programme of
improvement with the aim of producing superior Gauge
1 products at great value-for-money prices.
The ubiquitous heavy freight locomotive…
Constructed between 1935 and 1945 some six hundred
and sixty-six locomotives of the class were taken
into BR stock on nationalisation. Designed by
Stanier for heavy freight duties, the locomotives
had a boiler of very similar dimensions to the Black
These engines were used throughout the LMS to haul
heavy freight, but also on passenger train duties
across the ex-Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway
between Bath and Bournemouth.
In service the locomotives were always painted in
unlined black livery. In BR days both crests were
carried according to period.
A model of high specification…
This gas-fired, live steam, model is of beautifully
hand-made brass construction.
The model features two outside cylinders and
fully operational Walschaerts valve gear, water
level and pressure gauge.
