GWR 14xx Class

Designed by C.B. Collett the Class was introduced in 1932. Initially designated 48xx Class they were re-classified 14xx Class in 1946.

Away from the sound and fury of the main line these pretty little locomotives plied their trade on a majority of Western Region branch lines, winding their way through the rolling countryside.. Their quite progress respectful of their bucolic setting - as quintessentially British as cricket on the village green.

All 75 of the Class were fitted for push/pull working so the train could be driven from either end when coupled with an autocoach and this avoided running around at terminal stations. On busier branch lines the locomotive was sandwiched between two, or more, autocoaches.


The Gauge 3 Model........

The GWR 14xx Class model is built to a near exact scale of 1/22.6. Beautifully detailed it is designed to run on 2.5" gauge track.

Each model comes complete with a silver soldered copper boiler, hydraulically tested to twice working pressure. We supply fully compliant certificates for boilers and gas tanks. As testament to our confidence in the models we supply we offer a full 12 months warranty on every product.
