The GWR 15xx Class
All ten locomotives of the class were constructed in 1949 at
Swindon and entered service on the Western Region of British
Railways. They were employed on heavy shunting duties at London
Paddington. Numbers 1501/2/9 were later sold to the National
Coal Board for use in collieries. The 15xx was turned out in
different liveries including lined black and NCB maroon.
The Model
We have chosen the 15xx Class as our first fully machined,
bolt-together, kit model. It is a substantial tank engine with
two outside cylinders and Walschaerts valve gear. The kit is
divided into 6 sub-kits, delivered together. It is suitable for
the novice builder who will benefit from illustrated assembly
instructions and a video of Mike Pavie building the kit from
start to finish. The kit is delivered fully painted in the
livery of your choice. The model is also available ready-to-run.
Boilers are silver soldered and UKCA marked. All components
benefit from a 5 year warranty.

T’s & C’s
The manufacture and assembly of this ready-to-run live steam
model is a complex organisational task. We always prioritise
quality over speed and the timetable for delivery represents our
best estimate at the time of your order reservation. Delivery
timing may vary by up to 16 weeks from the dates stated. We will
keep you informed. In line with our policy of continuous
improvement we reserve the right to improve the design of the
model and upgrade materials used as appropriate during
manufacture. Your order is accepted in accordance with T & C’s
on website. While every effort will be made to complete the
model build by the date indicated, time is not the essence of
the contract.
